#2020Recap: 8 Best theme songs of web series in 2020
https://ift.tt/3mWQKvd
The web space exploded big time in 2020. While the story, theme, execution and performances played a part, another important factor also contributed to the popularity of a show. And that’s the theme song, played during the opening credits. Almost all shows had the said track but only some of them made us listen to the whole tune and not click on ‘Skip intro’ button. In this special feature, Bollywood Hungama brings to you a list of our favourite web series theme songs of the year.
1. Scam 1992 (Composed by Achint)
This list will be incomplete if this legendary track is not included in the list, that too at the very beginning! Composed by Achint, this track gave an adrenaline rush each and every time one listens to it. We are not surprised that not just the content of the series, but even the theme song has gone viral and has record views on YouTube.
2. Bandish Bandits (composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy)
Most theme songs are either quirky or have the thrill feel. In this regard, Bandish Bandits stands out. The theme song beautifully captures the classical folk and Rajasthani culture element. Also, the visuals add to its charm. The manner in which Rajasthan’s desert and forts are presented and also the manner in which the faces of Ritwik Bhowmik, Shreya Chaudhary, Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni are carefully and cleverly hidden make for a splendid watch.
3. A Suitable Boy (composed by Alex Heffes with Anoushka Shankar)
Just like Bandish Bandits, the theme of A Suitable Boy has the ethnic touch. But it slightly differed for though it has a strong Indian sound; it also has the global sensibility. The use of sitar enhances the charm and appeal and also goes well with the 1950s era shown in the series.
4. Panchayat (composed by Anurag Saikia)
This was a simple, light-hearted rustic drama and the theme song captured this essence very well. Another reason why the theme song works is because of the visuals and the way the names of the cast and crew appear in Hindi. Again, it goes very well with the flavour of the series.
5. Jamtara (composed by Sidhant Mathur)
Sidhant Mathur’s piece commences on a thrilling note and we love how the tension levels in the music goes on another level towards the end.
6. Mirzapur 2 (composed by John Stewart Eduri)
The foot-tapping theme has a separate fan base for many and an instant recall value for most, as it was also used in part 1. The hammer and metal sounds stand out and also the use of Brazilian and Afro themes set in a fully UP setting is a great idea that has paid dividends for the makers and the composer.
7. Breathe: Into The Shadows (composed by Alokananda Dasgupta; recreated for Season 2 by Karan Kulkarni)
The theme is more or less similar to the one in Season 1 though the visuals and graphics this time have been changed. Nevertheless, the theme has a haunting and eerie feel that sets the mood for the series.
8. Four More Shots Please - Season 2 (composed by Mikey McCleary)
In the sequel, not just the song but even the visuals are the same as in Season 1. But we are not complaining as we love the funky and catchy opening credit theme. We hope it’s retained in season 3 as well!
